Information Management
EDJ offers a wealth of expertise in the planning,
implementation, and ongoing operation of data collection
and management processes. In the context of our project
work for the Federal Government and other clients, the
EDJ team has provided support for an array of successful
efforts to establish and maintain physical and
electronic information storage systems designed to
facilitate ready access to critical data by researchers,
practitioners, managers, and policy makers in a number
of fields.
Through our practical experience with information
management, EDJ has built the human resources,
procedural, and technological infrastructure needed to
deliver comprehensive support for data collection,
archiving, retrieval, and reporting. Our services
include:
- Information management system design
- Physical document collection and storage
- High speed scanning and digital conversion
- Document archiving and demand-driven retrieval
- Electronic database development and maintenance
- Web-based and desktop user interface design
- Data entry and ongoing information validation
- Customized report design and production
To maintain the highest level of service and
responsiveness, EDJ is committed to ongoing strategic
investment in our technology and people. The firm has a
base of state-of-the-art equipment that includes high
speed digital scanners, workstations, and dedicated
servers networked to support rapid storage and retrieval
of data for fast-paced, large volume information
management systems. Further, we offer an extensive
library of up-to-date software, including database, Web
design, optical character recognition, and document
imaging packages. In terms of our staff, we adhere to a
policy of continuous learning for our team and provide
opportunities for training and professional development
focused on the application of technology to the delivery
of high quality information services for our clients.
As an invaluable complement to our internal capacity,
EDJ is connected to the Internet through a dedicated
high speed T-1 line offering stable, reliable service
backed by a guarantee of 99.9% uptime, among the best in
the industry. Through this connection, we offer our
clients a variety of proven technology solutions for
real time data access, information sharing, and
communications. To maintain the security of data, we
have in place a full complement of hardware firewalls,
routers, and software that is regularly updated and
monitored to prevent unauthorized or unsafe system use.
In designing and managing information systems, we
prioritize the integration of effective procedures for
data back up and disaster recovery. While we have been
highly successful in defining and maintaining systems
that offer consistent data access without interruption,
we are firmly committed to being prepared for the
unexpected. As appropriate to the circumstances, we
establish procedures for continuous back up, on-line
data redundancy, and off-site storage to support rapid
restoration of information in unanticipated emergency
situations.
At
EDJ, we understand that the true test of an information
management system is the extent to which it is
responsive to the needs of end users. In this
regard, our approach to system design and implementation
is to flexibly customize services to match the
environment rather than rely on the use of standard
methods. As a result, we work in close consultation with
our clients throughout the planning and implementation
processes to ensure that the defined system is readily
accessible to users, comprehensive in scope, and
technologically sound. To that end, we emphasize the use
of a collaborative system design process, followed by
careful development, extensive pilot testing, and field
validation.
